Melchior thinks the reds were running something to cause lag. I was ok, but I also have a good ping. What I did find funny was that five Greater Cures in a row didn't cure me when one DPd me, which is not impossible, but so improbable that I should never see it again.

I got two of them 1v1, they ganked me once and res killed me once. At the end they couldn't even get me 4v1 with a bola-tossing stealther.

Given that there were eventually 4-6 reds we didn't do all that bad. Not our habit to take the entire guild to the star room but once the drop team got smoked we had little choice. Definitely pointed to a need to get folks familiar with running to the star room. The spawn didn't help, as did not having everyone in VENT. OSG did a good job keeping them off our backs at first, but our usual tactic of getting divided up prevailed once again, leading to less than optimal results ;-(

The first lesson is for all chars, especially non-PvP, to carry several of the main potions. A few potions add weight but could have kept more people alive as they fled throughout the keep.

Definitely carry Greater Cures. As I mentioned, one of the reds is a poison dexxer, and he was doing something funny such I wasn't curing his poison the first time. Carry Greater Cures anyway. Don't just press your Greater Cure key once. Hold it down until you're cured.

Greater Heals are also a must. When a red first attacks, use one immediately, so that in 10 seconds you can use another one. Mystics can use healing stones, and you can set up a macro in UOA or the Enhanced Client.

Because it's Felucca, carry Greater Refreshes so you don't get trapped, particularly if you're wearing med armor. With the Publish 81 changes, med armor takes stamina damage. One e-bolt from an enemy can leave you trapped in the middle of slimes. My dexxers wear platemail, which is the best at minimizing stamina damage, but they still carry a few Greater Refreshes.

By using left, down and right arrows for potions, I have unmistakable keys to hit when I need one. The order of cure, heal and refresh is their priority in combat. Cure first, because you can't heal when poisoned. After getting your health up, then you can worry about pushing through spawn.

Conflagration and confusion potions are not advisable with friends around. The former just get you flagged to reds (and unable to use the Star Room moongate). The latter can affect and confuse dexxers on your side.

Above all, don't panic. Place like Despise and the Terathan Keep are big enough to run around a corner and hide. Invisibility potions can be useful if you're being attacked by a dexxer, but they take a couple of seconds. A competent mage should not be fooled, but sometimes it's so unexpected that it'll give you a couple of seconds to drink a heal potion, then run.[/i]

You have to laugh at this hypocrisy. Just now in General Chat:

Gna'Kho'Na: main thing is to show respect to the ppl you fight
Gna'Kho'Na: cept PAS

SOS and their ilk are the last to show respect, but they demand it of others.
