Just Joined PAR

I joined PAR yesterday so I wanted to introduce myself. I started playing UO around 8 years ago, right after Age of Shadows came out. My husband and my two sons also have accounts, although my youngest son doesn't play very often. We have come and gone throughout the years for various reasons, but when we came back this last time, the High Seas expansion pack really sucked us in. In the past, we mostly kept to ourselves but this time, we wanted to join in and get to know people. My husband has also put a character in PAR named Gargamesh. We always liked everything about PAS so for us, there wasn't really any question as to which guild we'd most like to belong to.
I enjoy the role of healer the most, but I'm happy to help fight as well. My Luvs Harmony character is a Mage w/Spellweaving. I also have put my Fisherman, Professor Cornelius in PAR as well. My other characters are in a guild that my husband and I made up called The Bloody Do Gooders. They are Misty Rain (T-hunter) Aliens (Crafter) Jasmine (Tamer) and Shinobi (Ninja). I keep Shinobi logged out at the Sea Market. If anybody needs a gate, let me know and I'd be happy to hop on him and send a gate your way.
I look forward to getting to know all of you. I've got Ventrillo setup and already had a great time listening to the chat. I think we're going to have alot of fun!

Bloody Do Gooders eh? Does that mean you might be Monty Python fans or just Brit fans or something totally different?

Glad to have you in PAR, and soon in PAS. Let us know if you need any help with building any chars, etc. there are a LOT of us and we have tons of things to help you enjoy UO.

Looking forward to hearing you all in vent and seeing you ingame!

Welcome! It was good getting to hunt and chat a bit with you last night. You'll learn our voices in Vent soon enough. Mine's high and squeaky so it's easy to recognize (though I do sound a bit like KD...just not quite as high...or as squeaky...)

This is a great group of people. I have been on board about a year (came back after a 10-year-ish break from UO) and have received no end of help and camaraderie. And a free fallen mystics spellbook. That's the real reason I joined, though not everybody gets one of those.

Sometimes there's quite a bit of untruth in what I say or type. By the time you get to know all of our voices in vent, you will probably have a good idea of which is what.

I must admit, we watched the Holy Grail more than a couple of times. We also have a habit of making friends with Canadians who say "bloody" alot, but as far as we know, they are not related to the knights who say "ni".

Throw in our desire to do good and Wahla, The Bloody Do Gooders was formed.

We have many skills, however none as fine as Legendary Goober. Perhaps in time some of that will rub off on us? Heck, me even wondering if that is possible probably indicates that it's already started.

"Rub off" is not really the right word. It's more like "infect" or "contaminate", usually followed by the word "fester".

Oh, and I almost forgot...

do NOT get me started with quotes from the Grail. it is, by far, the greatest movie ever made. Especially when you compare the cost to the result (bang for the buck).

It took me about 30 times of watching the Grail to catch all of the subtle things that Monty Python likes to add in the background, almost out of sight.

Kinda like the old lady dragging a cat up stairs and slamming the cat on the wall a few times as the "Bring out your dead" scene is in the forefront.

I dont know if the newest DVDs of the Grail have the digital track on it that the old laser discs did (they were as big as the old albums, and we still have a functional player). If so, please listen to it, as it has the two Terry's that directed the Grail (Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam) talking about the movie and each scene as the movie plays. Its AWESOME.

One of my favorite things they talked about was that they rented a bunny for the killer rabbit scene from a little old lady, with the promise that they would bring the bunny back in excellent shape. Well, in that scene they sprayed red stuff for the blood on the rabbit, and after filming, they couldnt find anything that would remove the "blood", so they went to her pet shop or house, rang the doorbell, put the bloody rabbit on the ground, and ran away "RUN AWAY!".

I love the Grail so much that a young PAS and I did the entire movie ingame by taking turns on the script. That was funny as heck, as PAS members would recall in, come inside the house, listen for a bit, and say "What the hell are they doing?"

"Let's not bicker about who killed who ....."

I believe I am up to about 95 times that I have watched the Grail in its entirety. What an amazing movie!

I read my husband the posts and we had never noticed the woman slamming that cat against the wall. Totally hilarious! We have to watch the whole movie again. Remembering all them classic scenes. I would love to get my hands on the dvd version that has the "making of" and the comments from the 2 Terry's. Alot of times, I enjoy the "making ofs", more than the show. We bought the extended dvd of the Lord of the Rings and of course, the movie is amazing, but hearing how they made it? I was totally enthralled! One of my favorites was hearing about guy who played Gimli (the dwarf). When they first met at some dinner, he ordered a ridiculous amount of food and totally fit his character. It's so funny hearing the other actors describe it.

awesome about LOTR, we were thinking about getting the extended versions as well. I agree, hearing about how they made the movie can be as fun as watching the movie.
