Metal Head Quest

Some of you were wondering why I need 10 Undamaged Iron Beetle Scales.
Metal Head is a Tier 2 quest given by Thepem the Apprentice who can be found in the Royal City of Ter Mur at the Reagent Shop.
It requires 10 Undamaged Iron Beetle Scales (unfortunately, I thought I only needed 6......thank you dlwiii for showing me where to get those and helping me do it), and 1 pile of Inspected Ingots of each of the following:
Dull Copper
Shadow
Copper
Bronze
The hardest part is getting the scales.
To get to this second tier of quests, you have to do 5 of Thepem's first tier quests.
After you have done 5 of Thepem's tier 2 quests, the quests from Zosilem the Alchemist are unlocked and you can start working on them. To get to Zosilem's tier 2 quests, you must do 10 of his tier 1 quests. Then to get to his tier 3 quests, you must do 20 of his tier 2 quests. (Hey, it gives me something to do....)

And I think that at the end of the quest you get some potions which can be used to convert 500 ingots of type X into 500 ingots of type Y.
A good way to get Valorite if you need some.

Correct. At the end of each one you do get an Elixir of X Conversion. (e.g.: At the moment I have a few Elixirs of Gold Conversion that change 500 Dull Copper ingots into 500 Gold ingots.) The higher the quest, the higher the color of ingots. The next one is an Elixir of Agapite Conversion that will change 500 Shadow ingots into 500 Agapite ingots (then 500 Copper to 500 Verite and , finally, 500 Bronze to 500 Valorite.)
I didn't think that far ahead, but, yeah, I guess once you have completed all of the lower quests, every time you do another of the tier 3 quests for the alchemist, you will get 500 Valorite for 500 Bronze. Nice deal!

I learn something new every time I log in to the boards! Very cool - thanks for the info.

Each quest has a "cooldown time." All tier 1 quests have a 30-minute cooldown period. Tier 2 quests have a 2-hour cooldown period. The tier 3 quests have a 24-hour cooldown period.

if your looking for something to do I would love quest books for the 3rd floor at the crafters house for all to use.
What I'm looking for is a rune book with all the stops of the quest and resource gathering and a written book with a short summary of what and how to do things.
Just an idea because I rarely get to play and can't catch up enough to get it all done.

Well, shoot...........I'm sorry Wild Flower, but, as it turns out, I can't make the rune books for the Thepem and Zosilem quests.....at least not the complete quests. The 3rd tier quests are so dangerous that I can't get in and out of most of them. Actually, most of them involve critters that I haven't a clue where to find. UOGuide has absolutely no info on Zosilem's 2nd and 3rd tiers, so I am guessing that nobody has done them. I'm not sure why no one is doing these quests, but I have yet to see another soul there. The upper tiers of Zosilem's quests *really* require more than one person (a group sure wouldn't hurt.) Maybe if we get a few people worked through all of Thepem's quests (if anyone is interested), we could do Zosilem's quests as a group outing? (Someone will have to know where we can get undamaged Undead Gargoyle Horns for one of Zosilem's tier 1 quests and Fairy Dragon wings for the other.)
Percolem the Hunter's 3rd-tier quests involve Maddening Horrors, Dream Wraiths and other critters that I have no idea where to even find and I am pretty sure it would be certain death for my "crippled" characters to even try alone.
I can do partial books, but that is all. What do you think?

I have not gotten any of those Undead Gargoyle horns, but would bet they are from the Tomb of Kings in South Tel Mur.
Fairy Dragon wings are from the Stygian Entrance mini-champ in the abyss. Kill fairy dragons (and loose karma) for them.
Maddening Horrors are near the Medusa Entrance in the abyss. Tough critters. Not sure about dream wraiths, but would guess the Pixie champ in the western part of the abyss near the silver sapling tree.
Partial books are certainly better than nothing! If we are on at the same time I would be happy to help out with the quest. My times are erratic, however.

Thanks Maldar -- dwii is correct that partial books are better then nothing and it can be stated that they are partial.
thank you both for all your hard work -- I really do appreciate it.
You two are my personal little hero's
Thank you both so much.

If you don't want to do the "metal" quests you can parallel some parts by doing the "pet snack" quests. I'm working on the verite level quests right now and it's the first time I've used the scales. Or, if you want to do both, you can get the quests done faster as they are on seperate cool down timers.
