i had someone ask me today if pas was a guild of forgivness. and i really didnt know what to say i told them everyone was real nice but it wasnt the answer they were look for. so the real question is would pas forgive someone of crimes they had to carry because of some other guild or would they want to hold it over that persons head forever. im curious because i dont like questions that i cant answer.

I would say that PAS has a good heart and is willing to forgive and forget to most folks on Sonoma. However I would also say that it depends on whom are we speaking of? There is one indivdual on Sonoma that I would trust only as far as I can toss KD, being I cannot toss him you can see how far I would be willing to forgive that one indivdual for all he has done to grief those players of Sonoma. Again it depends upon the person and the history they have with PAS and the people of Sonoma.

its not thrax. but in all honesty is it fair for someone to carry the burdens of another guild ppl might not like the person just because of a guild they are in even if they have done nothing to anyone. guilt by assocation to sum it up

Guilt by association is never fair, but then neither is a definate answer to a vague question. The answer is yes, but with provisions, the individual has to want forgiveness.

I've seen KD forgive tons of stuff from lots of people and let them back in PAS and stuff seems to be fine... I've seen it happen with a bunch of PAS people... I'm not so good at it, even if people afford me the same kindness...

As I get older, it seems easier to forgive with only very few exceptions. Cant figure out why...could be that I forget more than remember these days.

I think the real question is "What needs to be forgiven"?

Forgiveness is easy, regaining trust is a completely different story. If they were just in an unpopular guild, then I don't think there would be much problem, unless perhaps that guild was ZOG, or some relation. I have been in most pvp guilds on Sonoma over the past 4 years, and I have always been treated with fairness from PAS. PAS and especially KD try to judge on the person, not who they have been associated with in the past. Just because they were in an unpopular guild will (in most cases) not have too much effect on how we judge the person. PKing is one thing, and is expected to a degree in Fel. However, if the person was actively engaged in scamming innocent players, that would be harder to forgive. And although forgiveness is still very possible, trust will take a lot more to achieve.

Anyway... Just because they were in a certain guild should not be a problem... PAS is much more likely to judge the person on what kind of real life character they possessed while in that guild, and what kind of person they are now.

And yes, I judge people on their words and deeds. The only players I have a hard time trusting are players who scammed others on a large scale. Those types of players never change, in my view.

But a pker? No issues at all there. Griefer? Depends totally on what they did and how they did it.

People would be absolutely shocked at who PAS has had in our guild in the last 10 yrs. To all of their credit, not one of those "ex-criminals" has ever let me down and violated PAS rules while on their PAS characters.

I tend to forgive a lot, and I am criticized for that often ... but my view is there are very few acts or words that tarnish a player for a lifetime.

I try to make PAS a good home for as many different kinds of players as possible. I think thats why we have been so stable. We are not one dimensional. We do everything. And we have all sorts of players in PAS.

All I ask of players with a checkered past (and I mean a shard wide checkered past) is that they always tell me the truth. If they do that, I have no issues defending their right to be in PAS, and have never had an issue with any of them.

I hate to keep saying how much I enjoy being with PAS, but I'll probably continue to do so.
I'm NOT some new guy. I started playing UO in 1999 (though I did not continually play). I have seen just about every kind of play style imaginable from Thrax to Queen Mum.

I really enjoy you guys but KD is the main reason I am here. I TRUST him. Because he trusted me. So, I trust him to make the right decision. Does he get it right 100% of the time. No, of course not. The man behind KD is human. I know that when he makes a mistake he will rectify the situation as soon as he realizes his mistake.

So, if KD says we are giving this ex-maroon a break. So be it. After all even the maroons are human and may wake up decide they dont won't to be a maroon anymore.

So, there is 500 words to support what Enrik said and say that I trust KD to make the decision and will stand behind him when he makes a goober error in judgement.

If I get scammed by some maroon that conned KD into becoming a PAS. I won't blame KD and I won't quit playing. We will just keep being who we are.

Note: the term maroon was stolen from Bugs Bunny and of cousre means moron. It just works well for many of the reds in UO.
