Mining for Niter(saltpeter)

Talk about anything that's clean.

There is great information here that I wanted to make sure folks could find so I split this topic from the one on cannons in the open market.

thanks, I thought about that earlier but was too hooked on mining saltpeter to stop and actually split the topic :)

I also was worried that I had hijacked the thread so badly already anyways!

being the CPA that I am ...

it appears you get these numbers of swings on each size niter:

small 3
large 6
huge 18
massive 54
gigantic ??

The most I have gotten on gigantic that I counted was 72, so that one niter gave me 153 swings. I got a whopping 316 from that one niter.

Also a weird trend, since I used a luck statue to take me from 1300 to 2200 luck, my real luck is way down, instead of getting 4-5 niters per 15 min, I was getting one every 15 min and the first two were only massive size. But then just now I got 2 straight gigantic ones, including the best one I ever had (153 swings).

Go figure ...

ok FINALLY figured out the right macro to dig the saltpeter without needing to hit a macro key and then target the niter to get saltpeter.

This is done with current targeting and is using Pinco's UO for the EC, but should be usable by 2d folks I would think. It saves TONS of clicking and maximizes my speed of getting the saltpeter once I find the niter.

It does require retargeting when the niter changes size (gigantic to massive etc). Just click ingame on the new size and hit your macro and it will dig till that size is done.

Cursor target current
shovel
delay 1.1 seconds
shovel
delay 1.1 seconds
repeat (only need the current target at the start of the macro).

Saw katana's calculation there about how much saltpeter you need so i thought I would repost this chartt here. It shows the resources you need for making a standard 30 shot gunbag.
